Bank CMG partners with Cashy to bring gamified financial education to Black Hawk School District

Cashy, the gamified financial education platform for banks and credit unions, today announced a partnership with Bank CMG, the Madison, Wisconsin-based community bank serving families, businesses, and farms across six Wisconsin counties. The partnership brings Cashy’s co-branded games, presentations, and self-paced lessons to teachers and students at Black Hawk School District for the 2026-27 school year.

Founded in 1893 and formerly known as Greenwoods State Bank, Bank CMG has served Jefferson, Green, Rock, Racine, Walworth, and Waukesha counties for more than 130 years from ten branches. Among the bank’s stated core values is a commitment to “invest time, talent, and resources in local growth and financial education.” The Black Hawk partnership puts that commitment directly into classrooms in the bank’s own communities.

Why does Bank CMG invest in financial education in the communities it serves?

Bank CMG, CEO or Media Relations

Cashy replaces slide-based financial education with live game shows, interactive presentations, and self-paced lessons. Banks and credit unions use it three ways: their own staff run workshops in schools, branches, and community events; they sponsor schools so teachers can run it in class; and they embed a self-paced learning center on their website. Everything is co-branded to the institution, and every session feeds one analytics dashboard. More than 45 banks and credit unions use Cashy today.

The Cashy platform: the library of games and interactive presentations a teacher runs sessions from
The Cashy platform. A teacher or a banker picks a game or a presentation and runs the session from one screen.

“When I took consumer ed, it felt like the teacher already assumed the interest wasn’t going to be there, so it was a very dry presentation. This is interactive, and that goes a long way with younger people. I think it will get students looking at things on their own that they wouldn’t have been privy to otherwise.”

Devon Kempel, Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager, Bank CMG

In class Cashy runs like a game show. Students compete, argue about their choices, and ask to keep playing after the bell. Teachers get sessions they can run with no prep and no presenting experience, and a full semester-long curriculum behind them, unit by unit, with student progress tracked and grading handled automatically. A Bank CMG staff member is scheduled to present at Black Hawk in September, and other teachers in the area can request access at cashygame.com/teachers.

“Our mission is to make financial education engaging, so people want to learn. Partners like Bank CMG are what make that real. They open Cashy up for free to the schools in their communities, and we reach students we could never reach on our own.”
